Peeling The Cultural Onion

The most in-depth culture shock I've experienced was in France. I was blessed to be able to study abroad in Paris for a year, and had enough time to see the ins and outs of the Parisian culture and lifestyle.

The most charming thing about Parisian culture was their ability to have a shocking amount of leisure time. I could sit and have coffee and lunch for two hours with someone who had a full-time job, the bars didn't close until 5 or 6 in the morning, and it is typical to take 2-3 months of vacation time every summer.

The time I spent in France was very good to my spirit. I hold it close to my heart and always look forward to going back.
